Then, let's get going. Let's make your #MeTime cozy, memorable and exciting, beyond your expectations.
This article will give you an insight into the must haves of a cozy corner. Discover how to choose the perfect place for it, quick tips to personalize it and much more as the post unfolds.
CHOOSING THE PERFECT PLACE FOR YOUR COZY CORNER
First, think of a place which you can use for this purpose. It could be a small area in your living room or master bedroom. It should not be in your guest room for obvious reasons.
If you want it to be well lit with daylight, choose an area near a window. I personally feel that the space where you drown in self-Indulgence should be breezy and well lit.
I strongly recommend this for every #CozyCorner! You can get enough daylight and air too. Imagine cold breeze filtering through the curtains and touching you softly while you read a book!
When setting it up near a window, I suggest dressing up the window in two layers, sheer curtain and an opaque drape.
Sheer curtain to let light in and drape for privacy as well as blocking the light when needed. Drape can also give you the privilege of catching a short nap when closed.
"A big bay window or a wall alcove is a perfect place for your 'me time'. It clearly defines the space and stands out."
I hope you find a great place for your cozy corner. Good luck with that! Now let's find out what goes into making that corner cozy.
ESSENTIALS OF A COZY CORNER
After you have zeroed in on the area, decide whether you want a regular furniture or a low height one.
For regular furniture, note that instead of choosing a simple arm chair, go for seating which offers more comfort. You can choose from the ones listed below:
Recliner
Chaise lounge
One seater sofa
Cuddle chair
Two seater sofa
Keep a pouffe so you can rest your legs on it. A table beside the seating will allow having your necessary stuff within reach.
Add in a few throw pillows and a throw blanket to cuddle in.
Put some plants to make the space look vivid and lively. To know more about adding greens, read my post, Go wild with plants.
Adding a few more accessories like a lamp and a rug can make the space look complete.
Hang a wind chime to mesmerize you with its sweet tinkling sound.
Bingo! Your cozy corner is ready.
LOW HEIGHT SEATING
For low height seating, keep a mattress which has a good thickness for more comfort. Bring in throw pillows and a throw blanket.
Rest of the components will be same as with regular furniture. All you have to do is to make sure that other pieces of furniture are of the same scale as the seating.
For example, a regular table can be replaced by a low table. Similarly, a table lamp will be more suitable rather than a floor lamp.
For your ease, I have a checklist in the end for all the components.
FOLLOW A COLOUR SCHEME
"The walls, furniture, throw pillows and everything else should set the mood you want. Choose between cool and warm colors to create the required feel."
Remember to follow a color scheme for your cozy corner. Colors that you choose should depend on the mood you want to set.
If you want to create a calm and relaxed feel, go for cool colors. Cool colors include shades of blues, greens and purples.
However, if your 'me corner' is going to be an escape to unleash your creativity, go for warm colors like reds, yellows and oranges.
I would also like to bring up that don't overuse a single color. Try to balance the look. Using same color in everything will make it monotonous. For example, blue looks great with grey and white. Few pops of yellow in blue color scheme also look great.
You can play a lot with colors and patterns in throw pillows. Mix solid and printed throws as in the picture below.
Create interesting combinations with solid color and patterned throw pillows.
Here is a checklist for your cozy corner.
